The Fear Script: When Your Mind Lies and Your Heart Knows

I used to believe my heart and mind were always at odds. That one spoke the language of passion and desire, while the other coldly calculated safety and logic. But now I know the truth: most of the time, they’re actually saying the same thing.

It’s just that fear loves to mimic logic.

When we think our heart and mind are disagreeing, we often need to take a long, honest look in the mirror. Because chances are, what we’re labeling as “logic” is actually just fear—dressed up in reasoning that feels safe.

Fear tells us things like:

  • “I never really wanted that.”

  • “It wasn’t meant to be.”

  • “That was just a phase.”

  • “I should focus on being practical.”

But let’s be real. That job you keep imagining walking away from? The person you can’t stop thinking about, even while trying to love someone else? The dream you talked yourself out of because the timeline got messy?

You’re not being logical. You’re living a fear script.

The Fear Script Is Sneaky

Every time I fully settle on a decision, and time passes without my heart feeling fulfilled, I start hearing it again. The voice. The one that says, “Maybe I never wanted that anyway.”

But when I slow down, I can feel it. That’s not clarity—it’s exhaustion. That’s not peace—it’s resignation.

I’ve caught myself doing this in so many areas:

  • Business: Choosing to apply for jobs because launching my own feels “too hard,” even though my soul lights up every time I imagine creating something of my own.

  • Love: Trying to redirect my heart to someone safe or available, just because the one I really want doesn’t seem to see me. (But guess who I’m thinking about while with the “safe” choice?)

If you’re constantly daydreaming about a different life, a different love, a different version of you—you’re already living in the desire. The fear script just hasn’t let you admit it yet.

Fear vs. Spirit

Fear disguises itself as logic. Spirit rarely does.

Your brain only knows how to calculate based on past data. That’s all “logic” is—trying to predict outcomes based on what’s already happened. But your heart, your spirit, your emotional body—they have a wider lens.

They feel the energy of what you haven’t seen yet. They know you’re out of alignment before you can explain why.

And they’ll keep nudging you with discomfort, discontent, and daydreams until you finally surrender.

Surrender Is So Hard… Until It Isn’t

Surrender feels impossible—right up until the moment you do it. Then, something shifts. Even if nothing changes on the outside, you change. And in that shift, new paths appear.

It’s like the old saying: “We make plans and God laughs.” Because the divine doesn’t operate on your resume, your dating apps, or your 5-year plan.

It listens to your frequency.

So if your frequency is saying, “I’m miserable, but I’m scared to leap,” the universe doesn’t punish you—it waits. Until you’re ready. Until you stop pretending your fear is your mind’s wisdom.

The Truth Is This:

If your heart is still whispering—even quietly—listen. Because if it’s not at peace, your job isn’t done.

Don’t let the fear script keep playing on repeat. Write your own. With truth, with courage, with surrender.

Because sometimes the only logical thing left to do is finally follow your heart.
